terrycloth: (silly)
I went to the Sunday Gathering yesterday. I played some magic, but this week I mostly got my butt kicked by everyone and his brother, except for (strangely) Havoqx, who was playing a deck that *looked* like it should kill everyone...

At any rate confusion then reigned, as usual. A bunch of Seattle Dragons came by, and it was scary -- they ALL LOOK IDENTICAL. Like evil twins of each other. I ended up taking Gray and a friend to Charlie's, after stopping home to get cards. Everyone (again) followed me up to my apartment, which slowed things down a little. Well, that and we started looking through the cards there, because I was trying to remember if there were any legends in Planeshift and Odyssey block (answer: Yes. Yes there were.)

The car was groaning under the load... and when we got to Charlie's, he wasn't really entertaining guests. I don't know who's idea it was to go over there, but apparently they hadn't actually *asked* him or anything. So everyone was parked on the street hovering around the cars. I listened to Skyekit play Final Fantasy-esque music on Charlie's BigScaryKeyboardThing, then blew around in the wind like a dandelion seed while people decided my fate.

Which was to take a different group of people over to Kitsunetaur's. It was really crowded THERE, too, and the dragons showed up, although they snuck around and came in through a hidden back door. I traded some crappy legends for a bunch of recent mostly-kinda-crappy cards; actually, I think Autumn Willow might have been worth something, but I never used her, ever, so I don't really care, and Chainer was the 'I Lose' card in my old Nightmare deck.

After a while, people got hungry and wanted to go out to get food. The first thought was for me to drive somewhere, but I'd had so much trouble parallel parking on the damn hill (someone had taken the slot I usually use that you can just pull into) that I didn't want to move my car... plus, I was worried about the brakes, which after two long trips hideously overloaded with many very large people were smelling pretty stressed. You shouldn't be able to smell your brakes, that's just never good.

So we went walking to get food. No one believed me that I knew where food was, and when we got there no one wanted to eat it, because it was a cluster of scary restaurants in a bad part of town, with a 'grocery store' that had nothing but beer. So we walked back, past the same crazy people we'd passed on the way out, and argued about whose fault it was that we'd walked all that way (a whole TEN MINUTES WALK) for nothing.

Luckily (not really) Doc had a family (not really) emergency, and needed to be taken back to Charlie's to get his car so that he could drive to find them right away. I volunteered to stop and get food on the way back. "I'll just pick up a bunch of random things off McDonalds' Dollar Menu," I said. But no, that wasn't good enough... and Doc needed to get ludicrously complicated directions over a cell phone, so it was about an hour before we left. I took Brellan with me to carry the drinks people had ordered.

"You'll be back in about twenty minutes, right?" Um, no. It took more like an hour to do the whole trip, especially with the stop at Safeway to get bread for Kitsunetaur, and the lights -- everywhere the lights. The good news was that the easy-to-park-in space was vacant by the time I got back, and the brakes weren't stinky since the car was under a normal load that trip. The only think missing from the order was one order of fries, surprisingly enough.

There was a little more magic, then I needed to take some people down to Auburn (Brellan, and Omen, and... er, Omen's 'girlfriend'. Sort of. Omen's the girl, and she's the guy, is how it was not-really-explained to me.) It was a fun enough trip; we spent it singing evil metal and emo and rock ballads. "o/~I tried so hard, and got so far...." etc.

So I got to Lex's about midnight, just as Kitsunetaur and Zaria (Raven now is it?) were leaving. Kitsunetaur came back, and made not-so-subtle hints that we should leave soon, for hours and hours, until my refusal to acknowledge them led to him falling asleep on the couch. I stayed up with Slox for a few hours longer, until he put me to sleep with 'hilarious' flash movies...

I woke up at 8am, extremely uncomfortable and COOOOOLD. Too cold to even consider going back to sleep there. So, since I was feeling pretty awake, I woke up Kitsunetaur and took him home, then went home myself, changed clothes, took a shower, decided to make myself waffles, after walking out to the corner store to get something to drink, sat down to put on my shoes, and promptly fell asleep.
