I skipped work today (took a vacation day) to go see They Might Be Giants in concert at the zoo. It was a pretty chaotic setup -- everyone just set up blankets and lawn chairs in this big field, with a stage and speakers up on poles. Thanks to 'No!', there were tons and tons and tons and SWARMS of kids there, including my sister's baby -- I was there with her and her family.

The concert was okay, but pretty short -- an hour long, if that. It was supposed to start at 6, but TMBG didn't show up 'till 7, and the opening act only played for fifteen minutes (thankfully). Were they late? I think they were, and had to stop on-schedule because the sun was going down and (as the zookeeper people announced) the zoo has ABSOLUTELY NO LIGHTS.

The highlight of the concert was when little Stevie got up on his knees, put his hands in the air, and started rockin' down to 'John Lee Supertaster'. It was really cute. Most of the rest of the time, he used his newfound (since I last saw him) powers of crawling to try to escape into the crowd.
