Obviously, he's up there controlling the weather and making it cold on the first day I decide to leave my coat at home. Or it might be Thor, I suppose. Or those fiendish weathermen.

It was sort of cold when I decided to leave my coat behind, but it's been sort of cold in the mornings for a while now, with it heating up progressively during the day until I was hot and regretted bringing my coat.

Anyway, while walking along one of my standard morning routes -- the one that goes past two churches and a high school -- I started thinking about spirituality and religion. )

Security

Today I went to the mandatory security training that all employees are going to have to take on a yearly basis. After the mind-numbing tedium of the book we were required to read, I had pretty dire expectations, but the class was actually fairly interesting.

It was taught from a clever angle, too -- the 'here's something stupid that you probably just did yesterday that you'll have to go fix now' segments were interspersed with 'no, really, this works, we've been getting results' cheerleading and humorous anecdotes about how such and such box got pwn3d.

He had a sticker on his laptop: "My other computer is your linux box."

So, professionally, it was a well done course with some useful information about security (at least, as far as I can tell, given that my security expertise pretty much extends to 'well, I went to this course...').

Personally, the guy is a total dick. Every time anyone asked him a question, it was an opportunity for him to mock them mercilessly, usually misinterpreting them for comedic effect.

But I'm not bitter.
