There was a lot of fighting, and a lot of dead drow, tonight as well, and the sorcerer almost learned a valuable lesson that many of us learned in Blackburrow (DON'T PULL TRAINS!) but the party sprung for a True Resurrection.

spoilers for City of the Spider Queen )

"Okay, Lareth, lead me to the temple."

"Right this way... go in this back entrance.... HAHA, FOOLS, I LED YOU INTO MY TRAP!"

"Er, okay. But you'll still fight on my side, right? And kill your own men?"

"Yeah, sure, why not? I'm evil."

Thank goodness for that -- he's my main healer. }:P And he's hardly the only chaotic evil party member.

Furnok died, but... considering reloading to maybe prevent that... I found myself not caring. Furnok was always kind of useless. And I got back all the magic items he'd taken without asking.

Also, it looks like spellcasting enemies aren't broken in general. They're STUPID, and keep casting 'daze' and 'hold person' unsuccessfully on the druid's attack dog, but they have spells. Dunno why Lareth didn't.

And the alt key is helpful, and I set a couple shortcuts, although not everything I'll have to set eventually, altohugh god knows how I'll remember what I set 'charge' to since 'c' is reserved. But...

...but they left out all the wonderful 2nd level evocation spells in 3.5. Instead I get Gust of Wind. Which does NOTHING. I shot it at a bunch of enemies, they all failed their saves, and NOTHING HAPPENED. I guess I... er... blew wind in their face. Or something.

Lareth finally turned on me, and I had to kill him. He had some nice things on him, but I was starting to run low on NPCs, so I went to Knulb to see if there was anyone I could recruit, and while I was there tried to work on the 'buy a house' quest I'd read about in a walkthrough.

So, I bought a slave girl, and gave her a crossbow, which she's sort of buggy using -- by default, she walks up and tries to use it from melee range. She doesn't reload automatically. She has yet to hit an enemy. She PISSES ME THE HELL OFF. She has a ring of invisibility. A tasty, tasty ring of invisibility... I see DEATH in her future.

Don't ask me why a slave girl has a ring of invisibility.

Anyway, not remembering where the whatever the hell he called it was to extort money for the tooth guy, I went into the inn, where the barmaid pickpocketed the +2 sheild strapped to my barbarian's arm, and immediately equipped it. And my characters 'didn't notice'. So I killed her, and then had to kill everyone in the bar, which was fine -- they had a lot of treasure.

But when I went back outside, the guy I was going to buy a house from attacked me and had to die, which means... there's nowhere left in Knulb that I can rest. So I have to walk all the way back to Hommlet. YAY.

At least the pirates still like me.

And I still don't have a second decent NPC... Elmo kind of rocks, tho.
