It's been really damned hot in my apartment, so I finally decided to open the windows all the way, even though there aren't any screens and there are lots and lots of bugs. I can keep the blinds closed to try to keep the bugs away, but my torchierre is still slowly but steadily filling with little dessicated corpses...

You'd think one of the spiders would have caught on, by now. Stupid spiders! Stop starving to death and start eating the damn ladybugs and centipedes! I don't care if they're ten times your size!

A new management company took over at my building, and their first act was to pass out new generic rules for us to follow that were mostly either identical to the old rules or completely inapplicable. No, I won't be removing the screens from my windows, since I DON'T HAVE ANY. Still, that's getting off on the wrong foot -- it says 'Hi, we're here to screw you even more!'

There are some changes. For instance, unlike the old rules, and contrary to washington state law, we're now responsible for keeping the appliances in working order.

Their second act was to cut down all the trees outside my window, tear up all the bushes, and replace it all with woodchips. They left the really big trees, and enough of a few of the bushes that they might eventually grow back, but it turned from a lovely squirrel-infested wilderness strip into... well, a pile of woodchips. With forlorn, starving squirrels staring at what used to be their habitat while perched on the fence.

Thank you SO much for 'improving' the property in a completely useless fashion. I assume this means our rent will go up?
