Sick as a dog, and six times as meek
Feb. 10th, 2004 10:48 amLast night was horrible. After being soundly crushed by a miniboss in BGDAII, I decided to have a bowl of Lucky Charms and watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer the movie, but the marshmallows were sickeningly sweet and stuck in my teeth, and then the fire alarm went off.
Yes, I brushed my teeth before leaving the building.
Then I went and drove around until I felt better, since I was in a very unstable mindset. I took Coal Creek down to Renton, then over to 405, up to where 5 meets it north of Seattle, then down to 520 and back across the lake. Sort of a big (100 mile?) figure 8. I hadn't intended to drive that far, but it took a long time to feel better this time.
I did some net stuff, then went right to bed, because I was sick and tired. I woke up shivering a few hours later -- it was obvious my fever was getting worse. So I got up and turned the heat up in my apartment, then took some Aleve. This was very difficult, as I was furiously shivering the whole time, to the point where I could barely walk or hold things.
Afterwards, I went and huddled in bed, hoping that I wasn't so sick that I'd bake to death (after all, turning up heat might make me more comfortable, but it's not going to cool me down) and that I didn't start throwing up, which I felt some precursers to (although I never actually got sick to my stomach or anything).
I had a long horrible semi-dream huddled under my covers, then suddenly the fever broke -- it was sudden, like POW. And I felt better, and slept the rest of the night comfortably.
Still got a sore throat, though, so it's not over yet. It's probably just the normal thing colds do to me -- they go away during work hours, so that I can't take sick days.
