...WTFOMG no parking
Jan. 13th, 2004 10:58 amAlthough, actually, I found a space. It was the last one, near the end of the little curlique appendix, just before the dead end on the last level of the parking garage. Waking back, I passed a solid line of dozens of cars, with more coming in every second, backing up in the aisle because there was nowhere for them to go -- they couldn't even turn around because whatever idiot designed the place had it spiral around and dead end instead of looping -- the people in front were blocked, and the people in back didn't realize they were blocking.
I don't get it. I was a little later this morning than usual (10:24 instead of the normal 10am), but I've been in this late before and never had trouble finding parking. Hell, I used to come at 11 every day!
Obviously, a whole bunch of people are parking in the garage that used to either park elsewhere or use some other method to get in to work. Compared to YESTERDAY, when I was also in around the same time.
EDIT: Mystery solved? Supposedly, a DIFFERENT set of buildings ran out of parking because to cut costs, they decided to put three people to an office. So people from those buildings are parking in our garage and then either taking a shuttle or walking to their building.
As a consequence, a bunch of people who work in our building had to park in the lot of yet another set of buildings a block up the street today. No doubt overcrowding those lots as well.
Cascading failures!
