So, I spent the whole weekend with my family, which is about the right amount of time, especially if I don't have to immediately go back to work afterwards. Which I don't, because I'm taking my 'endoftheyearohcrapIneedtotakethreeweeksnoworloseit' vacation.

Saturday, Alex had to work, so Anna and mom and I went to a salmon run to watch the fish. It was a little park on the coast of the sound, with train tracks runing through it. Over the tracks was a scary metal bridge with transparent stairs, that led to the beach. The bitterly cold, driftwood strewn muddy beach. Brrr.

The other path, through the forest by the stream where the salmon weren't, was warmer, and the trees helped block the rain. Despite all the rain we'd had, though, the stream was too shallow for the salmon to really get up it, although on the way back we passed by the bridge at the very start of the stream and saw a few fail to get up the first waterfall.

That night, after picking up Alex and eating dinner and bumming around the house watching the baby and playing gameboy etc., we went to this annual event, where a bunch of people walk around Green Lake in the dark, with candles set up to either side of the path, canues and kayaks with christmas trees, lawn deer, and giant stars of david circle slowly, and choirs sing horribly christmas carols.

We missed most of the ceremony, though, since we were almost an hour late. All weekend, it took anywhere from an hour to two hours just to get ready to leave, thanks to the baby. Well, thanks partly to the baby. We were never that quick to leave, when we're all together...

So most of the candles were dark, and the boats were pulled out of the water when we were only halfway around, and we arrived at the choirs just as they stopped singing... and it was cold, and windy, and three miles around the lake. Urgh. I guess it was good exercise, at least.

Afterwards we tried to watch the Hulk, but everyone fell asleep.

Sunday, I headed over around noon, and we spent most of the morning with mom borrowing my gameboy to play Wario Ware, and Alex playing Advance Wars 2 on his G5 with an emulator. Then we went to a mall, arriving around 5:30pm, and spent about an hour there -- I got a coat (my old one's on its last legs), and Space Channel 5, and Beyond Good and Evil because several people recommeded it. Anna got a sweater. Alex got mom a GBASP of her own -- she almost got two, but fortunately we compared notes. She was really going overboard with the subtle hints. c.c

Then they watched the survivor finale, and then... well, we tried to play Super Mario Party 2 but it was really too late, and mom was dozing off.

I kind of feel bad about missing the movie gather this week, since I heard that something special was supposed to be happening, but mom doesn't visit very often. Matter of priorities, I guess.
