Yay. I ran out to get Knights of the Old Republic, and Best Buy sold me an empty box. At least they let me exchange it, so I don't have to swear everlasting vengeance. I'm not good at everlasting vengeance.
But as I suspected might be the case, my computer can't run KOTOR either. It has a decent frame rate and all, but no *textures*. What kind of game requires more than 128 megs of video ram on the 'low texture' setting? KotOR claims to only need 32 megs, so I thought I was pretty safe on that count. In fact, my computer has at least twice *all* the recommended settings. Not that that's never stopped it from not running games before.
I guess I'll add it to the pile of games I can't play until I get a new computer. Which I can't do until I get e-mail working on this one, so that the old computer that's pretty much only around to read e-mail can be retired.
Or maybe I won't bother. I'm tempted to just say '#%^& PC games' at this point.
