terrycloth...play Indigo Girls 'Shaming of the Sun'. Gah, that's such a depressing CD.
Of course, it helps to play it while waiting for the damn phone to ring after a day full of annoyance and failure.
Annoyance: Shipping on a package I was sending came to more than the price of the contents.
Failure: Jak II was out, but not in.
Failure: Tron 2.0 doesn't run (well enough to play) on my machine, despite it having much, much more than the minimum requirements.
Annoyance: EBX changed its return policy, so I'm stuck with it.
Failure: I forgot to save for an hour or two playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, then lost the game on a technicality -- I killed an enemy with my main character with the default attack command, violating 'copycat'. Instant red card death.
Failure: I misread the arrival time of my mother's flight, and started waiting for her to call about two hours early.
Annoyance: CONSTANT telemarketer calls during the four hours I was waiting for her to call.
So, yeah, I was sobbing to the Indigo Girls, and writing angsty prose, when she finally called, and asked me to meet them at my sister's house, in Seattle, across Lake Washington, at 4:30 pm. Right at the start of rush hour.
I left right away. At 6pm, I got there -- most of that time spent going less than 5mph. Some people do this as an everyday commute... I pity them.
So, we had a sort of birthday party, although it was mostly for my sister's newborn. Babies always demand all the attention. }:P We ordered some pizza, and watched some TV, and ate cake (the candles lit up the room until I blew them out!), and played some video games... but mostly doted over the baby.
The good news is it looks like they'll be spending most of their time doting over the baby, instead of expecting us to entertain them -- I was getting kind of nervous, since they're apparently here for a whole week!
