Evil Neighbor
Oct. 14th, 2003 10:36 amSo, last night, I'm playing some music and stuff, and I get a knock on my door. It's my new neighbor, complaining about the noise.
Now, my music wasn't very loud -- much quieter than it's been over the past two years during which I've gotten no complaints. He claimed he couldn't sleep because the music was coming through the wall, which struck me as odd because the way the apartments are arranged, his bedroom should have been nowehere *near* my apartment.
But he insisted it was. "That's poor planning," I said... and he decided to take that as a personal insult, and talk about how HE was considerate and had put all his electronics against the *inside* wall of his apartment.
My furniture placement was not a matter of choice -- there's one outlet that's controlled by the light switch, and one that isn't. There's one cable jack. To put my electronics against the inside wall I'd have to run the coax cable under the heater, and lose my VCR settings every time I turned off the light.
This morning, I looked up at his apartment windows from outside the buildings, and sure enough, it's his *living room* that's up against my apartment, not his bedroom.
So my current best guess is that he's got some fucked up arrangement where instead of putting his noise generating things up against my noise generating things where they'll cancel each other out, like EVERY OTHER TENANT in the past two years has, since the jacks are very intelligently set up to force that, he's decided to sleep on a futon or something right up against the wall.
I'm probably going to have to confront him about this. I can't let his idiocy ruin my liesure time.
