terryclothShawn got fired Monday. He's one of the people that USED TO play with us in Tom's game... now he gets to move to California to be with his wife (who evidently saw the writing on the wall before he did, and had been asking him to quit for months).
It looks like even though he was let go for 'poor performance', and is moving out of state, he'll qualify for unemployment, at least... he was worried about that so I looked it up. You have to be fired for misconduct (defined as willfully acting contrary to your employer's interests) to lose benefits (or commit a felony, or do one of several other things not really related to why they fired you).
At least, that's how it read to me. I'm sure there are people who've had more experience with the system.
We had a goodbye lunch for him, though... we wanted to have a goodbye party, but the rest of us are still employed, and he's leaving Thursday, so there just wasn't time. He spent most of lunch complaining about his boss and about the furniture and other personal possessions they hadn't let him go back to his office to get. The rest of it was reminiscing about the dungeons and dragons games we'd played with him (that's how we all knew him) and about the waitress's amble breasts, although that last bit was mainly Ed.
We also all had to sign his players handbook, like it was a yearbook or something. I thought that was kind of stupid, but what the hell, I went ahead and wrote vague accusations of pedophilia in it anyway.
