So I went to this con after all, and it was better than last year's horrible fiasco, although still not a wonderful transcendant experience or anything.

It was better in several ways: Firstly there were new comics for sale that I didn't already have, including (I think -- I forgot to bring a list) the issues of Fuzion that I didn't already have... but some other stuff too. I've got almost six inches of comics to read through, if you include the normal saturday comic run, which I did on the way to the con.

Secondly, I knew more people there, so there were people to talk to, and talking to one person usually involved interacting with the people nearby that I *didn't* know, which is good. There was only one conversation I wanted to gnaw my own limbs off to escape from.

Thirdly, instead of getting involved in a time-eating RPG, I sat down and played 'Lord of the Fries' with Malystryx (someone I didn't know) and a bunch of other people (who I also didn't know). It was a lot more fun than the horrible Whitewolf game last year, although this game (well, these games) as well were interrupted, this time by a fire alarm.

Fourthly, I didn't get lost finding the hotel, although I got lost on the way back.

Bad things included the hotel catching fire while I was in it, forcing us to all run outside, abandoning our possessions... I kept hold of my backpack, but the cards we were playing with got left, along with (apparently) my ice-cream social ticket. I've never actually been to one of those.

The fire alarm was *sort* of good in the end, though, since I (a) met Elix, who I wouldn't have otherwise (he was busy playing Halo) and (b) had an excuse to go get food.

Food was McDonalds. On the way back the second bad thing happened: Someone took my parking space, and I had to find another one in the same lot, since the receipt was lot-specific. The only space left was VERY NARROW, and a huge-ass van was blocking most of the approach, but I managed to squeak in without hitting anyone. I had to clamber out the passenger side door, though... and man, I'm only barely flexible enough to do that anymore. I have nightmares about that sort of situation, sometimes.

Those were the only two *really* bad things, but the art show was also kind of stupid this year, with the long exception of 'DarkNatasha', who had some nicely done stuff. Also, the video room (when I went there) was showing a subtitled anime from the 80s that I could *not* stay awake through, and 'Yiff: The Card Game' looks pretty stupid. I'm sure people will manage to have fun with it, depite its many questionable design decisions and poor production values.

Of course, since we were at the Sheraton Tacoma, the con was split over six floors of two different buildings, but that was just an annoyance. (pant pant)

On the way home, all the way from Tacoma to SouthCenter, I was followed by a car whose driver decided that he didn't need to turn on his headlights, even though it was night. He could only be seen when he occluded the lights of other drivers. Luckily, traffic was heavy enough for that to work. Still, "atah tipesh meyod!"

I did not in any way, shape, or form celebrate Rosh Hashanna.
