Annoyance, Disappointment, and Illogic

Apparently, I've lost the plot in .Hack, because I've gone up levels to the point where there really isn't any dungeon I can seem to generate that's even remotely challenging, and I haven't gotten any new e-mails or board posts or news or *anything* since about ten levels ago. The last time I was semi-stuck like this, it turned out that I had to do something completely, mind-bogglingly illogical (go back to delta server when I was level 20), so I figure there's something similar I have to do this time. Although I've gone back to delta server, and that doesn't seem to be it.
I checked a walkthrough, and as far as I can tell someone's supposed to e-mail me with a place to try to go, then Mistral will give me a hint about where to find the virus core. But as I said, no e-mail, no nuttin'. And the game's getting REALLY FRICKING BORING without the plot. Just like an MMORPG.
This is why I hate this sort of game, where progress is 'coincidental' and triggered by random things they figure you're bound to do. Many games have one or two points where something like this occurs, but .Hack seems to be nothing but.
Hey game designers, if you're going to design a game with a plot like .Hack, DON'T. Instead, kill your family, your co-workers, and then yourselves, and send me a video.
But anyway, on to Jeepers Creepers 2. Ugh. While it was nice and creepy to see the bad guy replacing his head, his marked lack of invulnerability was jarring to anyone who'd ever seen the first one -- he was losing limbs like a kid in a candy factory. The illogic was the way the harpoon truck somehow magically repaired itself after being flipped over several times and crushed. I think the writers might have forgotten they'd destroyed it in the previous scene, it's the only explanation.
