terryclothI love this series, even though it's really short. Especially the music.
It's nothing like Excel Saga, though. I really don't see why people say it's so hard to understand.
Once upon a time, the Pirate King Atamis was imprisoned in a giant iron-shaped factory near a small Japanese town by the Medica Mechanica corporation, an interplanetary conglomerate specializing in involuntary terraforming.
Haruharuharuko was in love with Atamis, or at least extremely attracted to his power, and travelled to Earth on her flying Vespa to free him. And capture him.
She hit the unsuspecting Nuata (who everyone called Taku, after his brother, for some reason, including his brother's girlfriend Mamimi who called him Taku and hugged and kissed him, after his brother) on the head with her weapon/magic wand, which took the form of a guitar, initiating a process known as 'furikuri' by which she stole things from Medica Mechanica via a dimensional portal in his head, replacing his brain.
The objects would first manifest as fleshy horns protruding from Nuata/Taku's head, then, in times of great stress or arousal, would burst forth uncontrollably. The first thing to spurt forth was a giant evil robot shaped like a hand. The second was Kanti aka TV-Boy, a much smaller, good robot, blazing red with Atamis' power. It destroyed the evil robot, then Haruko hit it with her guitar and broke it, turning it blue.
Haruko and Kanti moved into Nuata's house to keep an eye on him. To secure this position, Haruko pretended to be attracted to Nuata's father. Nuata's father and Haruko forced Kanti to do chores and work like a slave, while Mamimi worshipped him as a god, because he had a halo and wings, and went around burning down parts of the city just like Kanti, god of the black plains, in one of her video games.
Soon, Haruko, still looking for Atamis, summoned another monster out of Nuata's head. Kanti was broken, but by devouring Nuata (temporarily), it could regain its power for a while. Next Haruko summoned a monster out of someone else, and again Kanti fought it off after devouring Nuata. Then some crazy people in orbit sent a bomb at the Medica Mechanica plant (which would destroy the city as collateral damage). One of them knew Haruko from a long time ago, and had previously been the victim of her FuriKuri magic, and so wore huge ugly fake eyebrows to supposedly protect him from FuriKuri.
To stop the bomb, Haruko used FuriKuri on Nuata again, but this time instead of summoning a giant evil robot she pulled out a guitar -- Nuata's guitar, which would let him unleash his power. Nuata used his guitar to deflect the bomb harmlessly.
By this time, all his friends were really impressed that he'd saved the city so many times, as they mistook Kanti's devouring of him for him piloting the robot. Mamimi was sad that Nuata was spending so much time with Haruko, and Nuata noticed she was sad and told her that he really loved her, and tried to kiss her! But she rejected him, and this released the largest, most horrible evil robot of all -- a giant hand in a trenchcoat and cowboy hat, with a gun on each finger!
Nuata and Haruko and Kanti fought the giant hand, eventually ripping its guts out, although halfway through the fight Nuata got fired as a bullet, swatted away, and lodged in a billboard. The giant hand turned to stone, poised over the iron-shaped factory, with a big hole in the middle -- it needed only for its core to be restored to grip the iron and begin 'smoothing out the wrinkles' of earth.
Kanti stayed red, and during the battle had pulled a guitar out of its TV-head -- Atamisk's guitar! Haruko and Kanti went off for a while on vacation.
Meanwhile, Mamimi found the tiny puppylike core by the side of the river, and after it ate her cellphone, she decided to start calling it Taku instead of Nuata, who she was scared of now. She fed it cellphones, and later motorcycles and cars, until it was big and evil and totally out of control.
As it was rampaging, Haruko returned and fed Kanti to the core, turning it into a giant worm-thing... but it still needed one more piece. She fed Nuata to it as well, and the core merged with the giant hand! Medica Mechanica's victory was at hand!
Or... maybe not. As the giant hand gripped the iron, Kanti emerged from the core, blazing with Atamis's power... and from his TV-head emerged Nuata, glowing a flickery red with a two-handled guitar. HE had acquired Atamis's power! Haruko was very angry, as she'd planned on taking the power for herself, and fought with Nauta over the city, while the wounded hand struggled to recover.
But eventually, when Haruko was almost defeated, Nuata stopped in front of her, shed Atamis' power, and said... "I love you."
Atamis, freed from all bonds, manifested as a giant glowing phoenix. He destroyed and absorbed the giant hand, mangled the iron-shaped factory, and fled off into space.
Haruko took this in stride, and bid farewell to Nuata as she flew off on her Vespa. Mamimi left the city, deciding to become a photographer. Nuata remained unchanged, continuing to complain about how nothing unusual ever happened. Kanti stayed on at his house as an errand boy.
