Comic Shop of Doom
Aug. 16th, 2003 02:20 pmComic day today. I decided to try to find out if the comic shop had any of the 'Fusion' series that I'd read the first three of at Tarka's. The clerk checked the computer and couldn't find anything, but said I should ask the manager.
The manager was on the phone when I came into the store, and had been on the phone with the same person continuously the entire time I was getting my boxed comics, looking over the shelves, and talking to the employee. It was one of those really annoying conversations where the person on your end repeats the same, simple information over and over and over because the person on the other end refuses to understand that, no, they can't magically make everything wonderful and perfect, although it sounded like they were going to get what they wanted anyway, eventually.
EVENTUALLY, he got off the phone, and said that they did have the comics I was looking for, or some of them anyway, but that they should have been in the computer. Since they weren't, he'd have to go search the boxes...
The boxes are numerous and scary, and fill up about half the store. They're the reason I have to special order most of my comics nowadays -- the store ran out of places to put the comics no one bought right away, so they only order what they know is going to be popular now. The manager vanished into the two-foot wide corridors between stacks for ten minutes, doing a thorough search, but came up empty.
He was sure that they had them, though, so he checked the computer again... and yes, they were there after all, and I soon hand my hands on more than half. 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 13, 14, and 15, at least.
There were also a bunch of comics I like from my usual set. It'll probably take me... oh... two, three hours to read through them all. }:P
