House on fire!
Aug. 8th, 2003 10:14 amThere was a fire alarm this morning, while I was playing some Arx Fatalis. Since this happens about once every couple months, I decided to save, quit, shut down the computer, pack it in its carrying case, finish getting dressed, then leave for work a little early.
As I walked out the door, I smelled smoke, and heard sirens. Apparently, this was a real fire.
Fortunately, it was a small fire -- someone had left the stove on and left for work, and it mostly just made smoke. But the fire department had to go in with hoses and actually spray water and stuff.
It took 5 minutes to put the fire out, and another 25 before they could move the truck to let my car out... but I suppose I'd rather stand around for a half hour watching firemen fold hoses than have to replace all my stuff and find a new place to live.
