The lowest of the people in Kurge's alliegance that I've ever met is level 28 now... I'm still 22. Although I'm getting closer to 23.
I finally did the egg collection quest -- it turns out there's another dungeon on the opposite side of the mountains from the one I went to the first time -- but it didn't give any XP. Just some attack speed potions that didn't last very long.
The Cthonic Darkenfowl were about like Blood Shreths... ~500 xp, but a toss-up as to whether I'd actually win the fight. Doing the quest, I had some 'help', as in 'oh, I'll go pull three of them while you stand there trying to heal and regain stamina'. I also ninja-looted more effectively (once it was obvious that that was the system) and that's why I was the only one to actually *finish* the quest.
Then I did a bunch of stuff that didn't amount to much, and finally went to find Dantry the Warder. He gave me a quest that amounted to a suicide run to pick up an item... then another quest that led to the drudge-filled valley where I'm now lifestoned. And accumulating vitae.
Oh, I also joined the kingdom of Shadow, because I was in that sort of mood and it was on the way to Dantry. I thought better of it, but apparently it's not quite as easy to turn off. Whee!
