I needed new shoes really bad. They had big holes in the sole and didn't even pretend to be waterproof anymore, and it's getting into the rainy season here, so I was walking around all day with slimy, squishy feet. It was really gross.
So I decided to go to the mall and get new shoes after work yesterday, since I got out 'early' (that is, only an hour and a half past the normal quitting time). The choices boiled down to 'Sketchers', and 'Everything else'. Oh, and 'ECCO'.
Sketchers: $50, looked exactly like what I wanted, didn't come in my size.
Everything else: $100, looked just enough unlike what I wanted to annoy me, may or may not have come in my size.
ECCO: $200, but damn they looked cool. I wasn't going to spend $200 though.
Anyway, the salesman convinced me that the reason Sketchers didn't carry wide shoes was that their shoes were 'one-wdth fits all'. Well, I didn't *really* believe him, but I tried them on and they seemed as okay as new shoes ever do.
But now, after walking a mile or two in them (this morning), MAN my pinky toes are killing me. They're rubbing against the wall of the shoe constantly. Also, there's a pinchy thing going on with the tongue against the top of my foot.
So now I'm not sure if this is 'breaking in new shoes' or 'being stupid and buying shoes of the wrong size'. I guess I'll know in a week or so, that's how long the last pair took. Maybe I can just get giant pinky calluses to compensate, or something.
