POTTER DIES! VOLDEMORT RULES ALL!
Jul. 23rd, 2007 03:22 pmJust kidding, I haven't even gotten the book yet. I ordered it on Amazon, and they guaranteed that it would arrive the 21st! But then I switched it to super-saver shipping which cancels that sort of promise, so it'll come... eventually.
Until then, I'm rereading John C. Wright's Orphans of Chaos and Fugitives of Chaos, because they rule. Actually, everything he's written has ruled most thoroughly. It's not 'hard' science fiction or anything, but it's very well-thought-out, complex, and mind-boggling fantasy.
I think I like his 'Golden Age' trilogy best, but that might just be because it's set in The FUTURE! Where computers rule all, and the hero is an impulsive brat, who wins *because* he ignores all the sensible advice everyone gives him, even though all the consequences they warn him of come true.
Also playing a lot of CoX and a little C+C 3. Glowy Thing (my peacebringer) is up to level 18, and finally has a useful human-form attack -- not-quite-total focus! All the damage, and 75% of the mez! Srsly, in addition to always holding the (minion or lt) target, it does more damage unslotted than my slotted nova attacks. Which is good, because the chances of having slots to spare for it anytime soon are slim -- at 20 he'll get lobster form, and it'll need to be slotted up from nothing just like Nova was.
Ice Weasel also made 33, so he has total focus and just put some slots in it. At 32 Total Focus was already a lot of fun just for the silly animation (and the 'hold a boss in one shot' effect). I did a team with him and a bunch of dominators, and it was pretty silly. Then we added a brute and things went to hell. I mean, the brute started killing everything before my stalker could get to it. *sniffle*
Finally, BERRIES AND CREAM, BERRIES AND CREAM! Er... did you know that if you eat *enough* blueberries in one sitting, it acts just like eating grapes toothwise? I didn't know before. Ow ow ow.
