Weekend Update

terryclothThere was no game friday because Snowwy backed out, so Murdock and I went to see Cars, which was a pretty good movie. It had one really boring scene (the purpose was to show how boring the town was before Lightning came around, but it worked FAR too well) and a couple scenes that made me cringe... and as far as I can tell, the movie's target audience was 'NASCAR fans'. Anyway, a good movie.
Then we sat outside the theater chatting about the movie and other stuff while the sun set, until it was like 11pm I realized I was *freezing*. O.O
Saturday I spent pretty much all day playing city of heroes -- did the Citadel TF in the morning with Flamekin (in record time since the team was just a whirlwind of death with two kins and a rad), the Sky Pirate TF in the afternoon with Siren of the Deep (which went really well until the last mission, which turned into a conga line of death for a while as the turrets chewed through all our awakens and we had to start using the hospital), and in the evening I played Cold Solder a bit to get the Spelunker mission planning to switch to K'Teri in the middle to get the badge for her as well.
Only a person I was grouping with informed me that they'd fixed that technique (I guess it was an exploit... respeccing at 32 to resell all your enhancers before buying a new set is fine, but switching characters to get a badge on a different one than got the mission is an exploit, go figure) but since he was in the same level range he was able to get the mission himself, and ran it with K'teri, and a friend of his, and some other random higher-level person who needed it. We exemped down so that they'd get XP... the fortune teller mission is really easy now, so it wasn't a big deal. Then I showed everyone around to get the plaques for the Pupil history badge.
Then, Sunday morning, CoV with Ice Weasel. Ran the two badge mission I'd scrounged around to get at the last second, then a couple normal missions with a team. We failed miserably to kill (read: damage) the Sea Witch thanks to the ludicrous AV regeneration rate, then I picked a mission from the highest level person there since she was set villanous... we finished it, but it was a little too hard for that group. The LJers might be fun to play and chat with, but they're really not very good at pulling only one group at a time -- they're more into playing on low difficulty levels so that you can *handle* two groups at a time, and this was the equivalent of Relentless for most of the team.
But anyway, the crossroads gathering didn't really happen. Apparently, it was the pride rally, so that contingent was missing, and the 'fur house' had had a big party the night before, so that contingent was missing, which left me and Tiro, who'd only come to recruit people to come back to Legend's place. He did not succeed. Or rather, he gave up because no one was there, and we just went to Lex/Kitsunetaur/Steeltail/etc.'s place.
Ended up spending most of the day helping people make d20 modern characters (Lex borrowed my d20 modern sourcebooks, which I've never actually used) for a new game Lex is running... although he tossed out a lot of the rules including things like the wealth system. So our 'not a jedi really because I don't have force powers, but I want to be able to do all the things the jedi used the force for in the movies' curled up with the d20 future sourcebook and found every horrificly powerful item in the miscellaneous equipment tables and asked Lex if he could have them, and Lex said 'yes' without even looking up what they were. Except for the singularity grenades. THANK GOD. x.x
But everyone else got similar amounts of overpowered stuff if they asked. I asked for explosives and a personal force field, Raven took a bunch of machineguns and stuff, and... er... wow, I don't know their names. But one of them too a keyblade from Kingdom Hearts, and the other... is a mage, and so scorns equipment. Or something like that.
We played a *very short* session that basically amounted to a thirty second character intro for each person (apparently I was a slave until I blew up my master's house for the forty-second time and he called the cops to have me taken away), and then a short scene where the prison ship we were on crashed in the middle of a desert. He wants to play again tonight, though, so I guess I'll head over there after work.
