Yesterday I tweaked magic decks instead of playing computer games, because my computer was occupied and I wasn't in the mood for consoles for some reason. Inconsolable!

I tweaked the Warp World deck a bit to make it easier to get RRR for Warp World... by taking out the signets and putting in standard green mana acceleration, namely kodama's reach and sakura tribe elder. This helped a lot more than I expected -- being able to *pick* which color I get is better than getting two of three at random. I also swapped out... some stuff... I don't remember what... but I swapped it out for Faith's Fetters, which are remarkably versitile, and as a result I will now remark on their versitility, like this: "Oh, you wanted to *use* that equipment?". Oddly enough, this silly little combo deck is the strongest one I've got right now... well, of the new ones. I haven't playested it much against, say, Rats.

The Boros deck got Ghostly Prison, which it needed SOOO MUCH. It *wants* a creature stall, because in the late game it can attack with huge double-strikers that are almost impossible to even trade with and fatal to let through. The Warp World deck usually has to either cast Warp World (unsurprisingly, it's always in a better position than the opponent after a warp world, even if the number of permanents on each side was the same, which isn't often the case), or use Flame Fusillade to sweep away all the critters, which don't have a huge toughness (because they're relying on first strike). Unfortunately for the Boros, the warp world deck is very capable of doing one or occasionally both of those, so sorry, try again next life. And the tim deck can just bolt and then tim all its creatures (if it gets off fast enough), and the ninja deck can bounce or kill all its creatures... the only one of the new decks it beats is the golgari, and *everyone* beats up on the poor golgari.

The ninja deck got some 'peel from realities' which let it put its own ninjas back in its hand and simultaneously mess with the opponent's tempo. They work, but the deck worked without them. Confiscate rules. Dream Leash sucks, because half the time the enchantments or equipment I want to steal never tap. I want more Confiscates... trade you a Dream Leash?

Did I actually end up changing the tim deck? I don't think I did. Viashino Fangtail still rules. Tidewater Minion doesn't rule, but is pretty cool. Drift of Phantasms is impressive. Surveilling Speedbump is... amusing. Spectral Searchlight is *unfair* (not unfairly *powerful*, mind...). Walls, Bolts and Cantrips until the tims come online (and are subsequently freed from reality) seems to be a solid plan.

And the Golgari... what can I do about the stupid golgari? Nothing seems to make this deck work. Dredge is a sucky mechanic without card draw to keep it from being a chittering rats lock on yourself, and green/black doesn't have a whole hell of a lot of card draw. I tried to speed it up by putting in llanowar elves alongside the owie black tapper elves and by removing the most expensive and least useful creatures for some equipment, but it still just doesn't work. I've seen Slox playing a Golgari deck that works, but it relies on Kokushkos and Graveshell Scarabs which I don't have any of. Mostly Kokushkos.

I think I need to find some synergy among the cards I have to build a deck around, more than just the savra+sacrificing things which doesn't do it. Or give up on Golgari until I get more power cards for those colors.

EDIT: Phyrexian Arena. Ravenous Rats. Umezawa's Jitte. No wonder there's no good cards for me to put in Golgari, they're all in freaking Rats! Oh, well. I like rats better. }:)
