EQ2, AQ2, Oops!

I'm doing different armor quests than woodlander... and unfortunately I waited too long, so everything is gray. It took a couple hours to find 20 caltorsis clerics*, since they're the rarest spawn of the random caltosis foo, but I did manage to convince the people camping elders to let me join them. The reward gloves were... a bit old, but slightly better than what I'd had on.
AQ2 was, instead of 'kill 24 gray mobs', 'kill 70 gray mobs'. I needed 20 of the dynamic-spawn results (plaguebringer acolytes), and they were in big groups of heroics. I mentored down to someone doing that part of the quest at the proper level, though, so I got my 20 and... well, they got XP.
The next step was 'kill 25 hulking horrors', big wolves up in the corner. Easy. I didn't really need the ranger who was tagging along (and had already completed the quest) to help, but whatever -- it'd go a little faster, and I'd need help for the broodtenders in blackburrow (8 of them, when only 3 of them exist at a time, yay).
Ranger: "Hey, what's this weird purple cloud thing?"
Me: . o O (Hmm, I wonder if it does anything if you click on it?)
Game: Now zoning to 'The Obelisk of Lost Souls'
Ranger: "Everything here is red."
Me: "We'd better leave, then."
Game: Now zoning to 'Zek: The Orcish Wastes'
Me: "Okay, this is *worse*."
After a few unsuccessfull attempts to find our way out of the deathtrap (conveniently, we usually died right there on top of the respawn point), I decided to call-of-qeynos back. The ranger left the group, preferring to sneak home, or something. Rangers!
Aaaanyway, that cut the night short.
(*: I got the 'hunter of undead' title while doing this part. That's how fricking many grey undead I had to kill.)
