Started another EQ2 character on Lucan D'Lere, as requested. }:P A ratonga scout, named Chitter. Planning to be a bard, although I haven't finished the class training yet. Considering rogue instead, but...
Man, scouts in EQ2 are a pain in the butt to solo with. Their HOs don't generally do damage, and out of the four attacks I have at level seven, one works only from stealth, one works only from behind, and one is a stun that's cancelled as soon as the next auto-attack goes off.
So I have to go 'sneak, creeeeep creeeeeeep creeeeep ambush, lucky break evade(useless power) quick strike (to get an HO), lucky break turn off auto attack cheap shot run past the enemy backstab quick strike (to get a second HO)' and then repeat from the first lucky break if the enemy isn't dead yet; so far solo enemies generally are.
The problem is that the second sequence takes a bit of time, and while cheap shot means that a single enemy is stunned for most of the delay, any other enemies aren't -- I got killed by a pair of white solo enemies in the sewers, which even my mage was able to take down routinely. It might just not be worth using against more than one enemy.
In a group, it's a lot better, since you can just stand behind the enemy backstabbing them.
As for Lucan DLere being a roleplaying server... the people playing evil-aligned characters are awfully childish in their evilness. And, for the most part, also ratonga. We got in a gang on the beach and danced around an iksar taunting him and threatening to eat him. Then we all went off to slog through the Isle of Refuge quests solo and mostly didn't talk anymore. v.v
EDIT: Oh, also, while the recent patch may have added several interesting things that people will enjoy, one of them that people will NOT enjoy was an additional 90-second delay every time I zone while it's 'waiting for entities'. At least one other person remarked that they'd been seeing it too, and at leat one other other person expressed annoyance at how long it took me to zone now.
I've taken to playing EQ2 in a window so that I can surf the web or read old MUCK logs or something while I wait for it to finish.
