Last night we had a session of Lazar's Shadake game. Most of it was spent building weapons. Spiky weapons. Spiky poisonous weapons.

In the morning, Perrel was missing. No one knew where he was, but Klazko had seen him wandering away on his own, so they figured it was his own business. Which, as far as anyone could tell later on when they found him, it was.

Basically, he'd gone off to look at the poisons he could help them improve, and Jardin went to build a spear-making machine. Wayne lazed around most of the day, daydreaming about giant balls of deadly yarn, impregnated with Cytherian poison... and decided to go talk to locals about making some.

They liked the idea of firing things other than rocks from their catapults, but had a suggestion -- instead of laboriously extracting Cytherian poison from their few Cytherians, why not use the giant poisonous brambles outside of town? Wayne was assigned a work team of kids, who he taught the basics of harvesting dangerous plants -- there were a *lot* of brambles, and by making the catapult balls entirely out of brambles he'd be able to make them a lot faster.

Meanwhile, Perrel was in the apothecary looking at poisons... they'd collected 1800 doses of deadly lizard poison, which he thought he could enhance, but it'd be slow and difficult (since his end result couldn't weigh 120 lbs). The discovery that the village was sitting on several thousand cubic meters of gold changed the equation a bit...

Eventually Balthazaar reminded them that they'd been trained to work together, and eventually they set up a production line building clockwork poisonous bramble grenades out of gold wire. They spent a day making a couple hundred, were kept up all night by poisonous lizards protesting the loss of their brambly habitat, then Balthazaar chipped in with a 'special sermon' and... well, by the next dawn the raw materials they'd gathered to make about 12,000 of the things were all missing. And they were all really, really tired.

The villagers had set up a place for them to sleep right there in the fort, so they did. And woke up during the battle, which they hadn't expected to happen for a few days yet... luckily for them, the villagers had, so they were certainly putting up a fight, although it was hard to tell from the fort who was winning.

They decided the important thing was to get back to their ship and try to save it from the thousand or so pirates who'd swarmed in on giant warships, with cannons and guns (to use against the villagers extremely poorly made catapults and ballistae... and 12,000 golden poisonous clockwork bramble grenades).

There were a few grenades scattered about the room, so they gathered them up just in case and prepared to move out... when one of the pirate cannons blasted a hole in the wall, and a pirate leapt in to attack! (most of the fighting was up on the roof, and at range, but one of the pirate ships had been sunk and the pirates were swimming to shore nearby)

The pirate was far more skilled and far better armed than the party, but was outnumbered three to one, which let them occasionally get a hit in. Jardin's arm was badly wounded before he could start fighting back with his naginata, so he whirled around to kick the shit out of the guy, while Perrel harrassed him with multiple swords and Wayne flung coals from the forge at his face. A couple mule kicks and he was down, although probably not dead...

Before falling, he'd called for help, so Wayne tossed a grenade out the hole to suppress anyone following him too closely... forgetting that that wall of the fort was right up against the water. The grenade *did* go off... underwater, where its little barbs couldn't hurt anyone. Looking at the way the villagers were using them, that seemed to be happening a lot. Damn it.

Still, it looked like they had a chance to run for it... although most of the pirate fleet was between them and their airship.

Most of the night was spent fiddling with the math for the magitech rules, really. The combat was a little thing thrown in at the end.
