Well, we tried to have a session of Lazar's game, but some new people came, and Lazar cajoled one of them into playing one of the NPCs that was going to be sent off to do something, meaning that the game had to more or less revolve around that.
Ahwell.
After forming the plan to brainwash Lela, one of the Keepers of the Flame, into being a suitable worshipper of the Thunderbird so that she could get past the defenses and steal the totems generating the weather barrier, the librarian ('Patch') went off to do that, leaving Kitten and John to their own devices.
John bummed around the bar talking to the displaced students (as the college had been largely taken over by the army Charlie and company were forming to resist the troubles outside Athens), and heard all sorts of rumors about vampires and werewolves and such... Kitten decided to try to spy on Charlie, by turning invisible and flying around. He managed to get into the next room over, but when he tried to spy through the wall he accidentally possessed the general of the army instead.
Luckily for him, the possession spell he used allowed him to access the skills and memories of the victim, so he was able to fake things a bit... and more usefully, ransack said memories for information about Charlie, which painted him in a very, very bad light -- he was consorting with bad people and werewovles and the like, and was only taking credit for saving the town -- he hadn't even been there when the troubles started.
Meanwhile, Patch found Lela meditating by the river, and convinced her to take on the dangerous task he had in mind by allowing her free access to his vaults of magical items (he already owed her too many favors to ask for another one gratis). She picked out some nasty weapons, and went with him to Charlie's to be properly indoctrinated -- since Charlie, as a native american shaman, was sure to know the details about worshipping the Thunderbird.
Charlie, hearing about the plan, agreed to help them, and went off with them to do some rituals and crap to indoctrinate her. Hearing that, Kitten dispelled the possession and told John that things were happening, but they were being left out of it! Not knowing where anyone was, though, they didn't really know what to do about it.
So, Charlie and Patch were able to work on Lela unhindered. They drugged her up so that she could see the spirit world, summoned the Thunderbird, and dosed her with a love potion so that she'd fall in love with the god when she saw him. He interrogated her about her purpose, and about what she planned to do with the totems when she got them, and seemed pleased when she answered that she was going to keep them for herself. So she remained smitten, but not actually, you know, smited.
Unfortunately for Patch, doing all the alchemy and rituals required him to access the memories he didn't normally have while in Athens Industrial -- he had to use the True Sight ointment to be able to do what he had to do. Unfortunately, he didn't have the antidote anymore, because Kitten had stolen it... so he was stuck between. Wandering around the city in that state, searching for anyone else that could help him, he eventually ran into Don, who'd been so focused on writing his memoires that he hadn't gotten around to joining the rest of the party in the real world. Don had seen Kitten steal the antidote, so they headed for the Front Room to confront him. Or at least get the antidote back.
Patch tried to dose Kitten with True Sight so that he could ask for it back (as neither he nor Don were skilled enough to pickpocket it), but mixing it with alcohol had an unfortunate effect -- it magnified the hallucinogenic properties of the drug, and left Kitten in a zombielike drugged state. Which at least let them get the antidote back easily enough.
Patch didn't seem to care if Kitten and his friends went after Lela, as long as they didn't interfere. After all, it couldn't hurt to have someone there to bring her back for deprogramming (which, since she'd been dosed with a love potion, would simply be a matter of dosing her with the love potion antidote). Mostly, he just wanted to get back to the actually very important stuff that this little subplot had distracted him from, so he left to do that.
Meanwhile, a curious psychic had been listening to the Front Room relate all these happenings to him as they occurred -- it was a friendly and curious entity, and loved talking to anyone that could hear it. His ESP gave him strange vibes off Kitten, and off John's sword, so he tried for a premonition about them, but got only cryptic nonsense about cats and spiders. He'd heard they were going somewhere, but couldn't place it mentally off the Front Room's description of the map, though, so he tried to sneak into the room where Patch's books and maps were still scattered, but was seen and confronted by the party.
After talking a little bit about their respective motives, Kitten suggested that if he planned to leave the city, it would be a really good idea for him to travel with them, since it was dangerous out there.

It kind of sucks for new people to come in now, when we're near the end (god, I hope) of a campaign that hasn't really been much fun lately (although, sadly, the last two sessions have been the high point of the last couple months). Most of the session was spent frantically trying to somehow get them to at least all be in the same room... which didn't really succeed. They're all going to the same place now, at least, thanks to Lazar mostly.
