No Respec For You!

I decided last night to try to get in a respec group with K'Teri (my level 28 earth/rad). I don't really *need* a respec, but stone prison would be more convenient and less suicidal to use against flyers then stone cages, and I've heard air superiority is better than flurry as a pool melee attack -- and then I could take Fly as my vertical movement power instead of Teleport. When I get around to taking a vertical movement power.
But more to the point, the level limit on the first respec TF is 29, and my connection isn't reliably stable enough to exemp into a task force.
So we form a TF, recruiting various people... we had 27s, 28s, and one 29 who was invited under false pretenses. "/t Shock an Awe, Are you level 27 or 28 and interested in a respec TF?" "Shock an Awe --> yep, invite me!" We also had a couple lowbies, but they were sk'd to 28s, so without the 29 we would have been near-optimal. As it was, we had a three-level spread with people fighting at 29 28 28 28 27 27 27. No dedicated healer, but a bubble defender with the medicine pool and a respectable heal other, and my aura isn't so bad.
The first battle of the first actual mission went smoothly, but right away a 27 tank started panicking about the 31s and 32s. "Oh my god, they're all red and purple! We can't do this!" We did it. No one died. The next fight, one person died because they tried to pull with ice storm [wince] but the tanks and I got everything controlled and we won without anyone else even getting below green, although it took a while.
Then the panicky tank leapt off the balcony into a cluster of enemies waiting below and died. You can't imagine the whining, but we convinced him to try again and this time NOT split up the group when fighting reds and purples.
So, we started making our way through the mission, and it was going really well. *Really* well, as in no one was even getting *hurt*. But after every fight, Cold Resilience the cowardly ice tanker on Victory who no one should ever invite to a TF ever again would complain that we were doomed, and that we were looking at 'Mountains of debt, more debt than you could possibly imagine!'
(what I should have said: "We can't possibly get *that* much debt. No one can res.")
After one last fight that went perfectly, he dropped. A blaster that we'd forgotten we had (because he hadn't fired off a single attack all mission since the fatal ice storm, although I think he was at least throwing caltrops) also dropped. Then our defender dropped, figuring the TF was breaking up.
And at that point, we had to. Or at least, that's what Shock an Awe said -- the TF wouldn't reset to the lesser number of players, and without two tanks things would have been pretty ugly against the size of groups we were seeing.
"Let's just do normal missions," the remaining non-cowardly, non-incompetent, non-jumping-off-balconies-into-certain-doom tank said.
"Sorry, if I get any more XP I'll outlevel the TF," I said, and logged off bitterly. I've got a little more play than *that*, really, I mean I'm at the *beginning* of 28.
So, instead of respec'ing K'Teri, I rerolled Ferrific as 'Slinker', also claws/super reflexes (I've decided I hate both spines and regen) but without Swipe or Agile, and got him up to 8th in three hours.
