I had a 1-on-1 with my lead at work, yesterday, and he talked about how he sometimes bikes to work from allll the way across the lake, and suggested that since I live so close I could probably walk. Now, I don't expect him to know or care if I actually do, but I decided to give it a try, since I need to walk a half hour a day *anyway* (doctor's orders) and my wild guess was that it was only about an hour's walk to work from my apartment.

Turns out it's more like 45 minutes, which means it's about as fast as walking a half hour to nowhere and then driving (traffic sucks). Of course, now I have to either walk home or take the bus...

Pros:
  • About as fast as walking nowhere and then driving.
  • More exercise to help counteract tea-time muffins and scones.
  • Save approximately 20 cents worth of gas.
  • Pretty overview of SR 520 from the overpass.
  • Get to pretend to be health conscious.

Cons:
  • Not any faster than walking nowhere and then driving, and I'll have to take the bus home, which is slower.
  • It's uphill all the way!
  • Sooooo many crosswalks to wait for...
  • Lack of fence on the SR 520 margin near the overpass tempts suicidal frolicing.
  • My car's probably safer in the garage at work than in the apartment building's lot.
  • Scary pedestrians might push me into traffic.

So it looks like the cons win, at least for now.
