Kami Chameleon
Sep. 15th, 2004 11:34 amI had a dream about magic cards, sort of. I mean, there were actual magic cards in it, but only at the beginning, and it was the same 'I'm trying to build a deck with a bunch of random crap old cards that I don't recognize' dream.
Then I looked up from the table, and a mafia enforcer was talking to me in a really insulting tone of voice, like he was trying to start a fight. I knew he was a mafia type and that I shouldn't insult him, but 'in character' I didn't, so I asked him if he was always such a jerk.
Then The Goon (from the comic book of the same name) arrived to 'save' me by murdering the guy right in front of a whole crowd of people, including the murderee's girlfriend. I thought that was sort of overreacting, so I undid the PVC piping so that he wouldn't drown, before tossing him in the river. Then I ran home, because I knew he'd still be pissed at me even though I saved his life, and probably try to murder me in my sleep.
Once home, I was distracted, though, by a bunch of people bitching about how they couldn't go to the magical theme park built in the canyon behind our house -- it was only for children aged exactly three or exactly four, and was apparently run by forest spirits. A bunch of them got together a posse to go 'free the children', but I knew what they really wanted was to get inside the park and ride the rides themselves.
The forest kami flew out -- little green 1/1 spirits -- and were beaten down by the horde of white weenies. Or at least, that's how I thought of it in the dream. I ran down to try to stop the slaughter, and so got caught in the kami's revenge -- glowy lights rose up out of the water and turned all the attackers (and me, because I was standing right there) into monsters! Most of them got turned into squirrels, but I got turned into a snake, and one of the girls was turned into a 'zombie'. Which basically meant that she didn't physically change at all, but like the rest of us felt compelled to go into the park and take over running it.
Once inside, though, we discovered that there were no children, or rides -- it was just a big, bare matress. So we all laid down and went to sleep. I was curled around the 'zombie''s leg, which made one of the squirrels (who was sleeping on her chest) jealous...
I was unhappy for most of the dream, but I don't think it qualifies as a nightmare, because I was never really *scared* so much as just anxious.
I found it really hard to sleep at all last night, though, because I just couldn't get comfortable in my bed. I think one of the phone books might have slipped out from under the missing leg, or something, because it seems to be more tilted than normal.
