Games:
(1) King's Bounty. Take the battle system from Heroes of Might and Magic, and use it in an otherwise standard explore and quest RPG. I'm playing a warrior, and started out using the normal warrior troops that I get a bonus with... until I ran out, having gotten them all killed. Then I went heavy on snakes, since my wife was a frog who gave a bonus to snakes and I had some nice snake-boosting boots. Most of the snakes are dead now too, but I'm still using Royal Snakes, along with Griffons, Dwarven Cannoneers, Elven Archers (they hate each other), and Emerald Dragons who are mostly there to get phantom images made of them to tank, and to drain mana from the enemy. Other highlights -- bowling for skeletons with a giant spiky ball of ice, and being killed by your own items because they didn't think you were doing a good enough job.

(2) Mass Effect 2. The combat system is a real downgrade from Mass Effect 1 -- either you're behind cover and invulnerable, or in the open and instantly dead. No variety. No ability to customize your equipment so that you can actually tank (yeah, a 5% bonus to stat X is not really customization). I hope they go back to a *fun* system for Mass Effect 3. The storyline is neat, though -- lots of cute touches. If only it didn't *crash* so much, god. x.x Overall, a real disappointment.

(3) Gratuitous Space Battles. Remember those PBEMs where you'd give your battle fleet orders about how to fight if it managed to run into the enemy, and then just got to watch the results replay after the turn was processed? That's the whole game. It's a vaguely amusing way to waste massive amounts of time, and the asynchronous multiplayer is loads better than *real* multiplayer since you're bound to win eventually if you keep tuning your fleet to what people put out there.

Bedbugs:
Two weeks ago, the exterminator finally came back (after a two-month hiatus) and told me I needed to get a new bed ASAP HURRY HURRY HURRY so that he could put climb-ups under the legs. So I ordered a bed and some encasements that very same day. One week ago, they finally arrived. Next week, the exterminator will actually be back. I guess *I* have to hurry but *he* can wait around for two weeks.

He did tell me he doesn't think they've spread beyond my bedroom, though, which is good news. If it's true. Most of the crap I have no idea how I'd de-bedbug other than to throw it away or put it in storage for two years is outside my bedroom.

Writing:
...oh yeah, I was supposed to be writing the next chapter of Familiar, wasn't I? Just kidding, I started it already. Twice. Not sure I'm going to keep either of the starts, because they kind of suck. BLAH. Someone else write something! Sythyry, I choose you! }:)
