Well, my shoes are worn out. I have a natural tendency to walk on the outside edge of my feet, which translates into increased wear that eventually makes my shoes tilt outwards, worsening the (normally slight) effect.
I have a pair of backup shoes, though -- way back in college, I used to wear sports shoes, but they wore out and I switched to wearing these hiking shoes my mom had bought me full time. When it came time to replace them, I was used to that style and bought another pair.
The *second* time I had to replace them, the salesman smelled blood, and had me try on sports shoes too -- I ended up buying a pair of each, since the sports shoes were waaay more comfortable, but I didn't want to admit I hadn't known what I wanted.
Anyway, I've been wearing the sports shoes ever since, but now that they're worn out, all I have left in the house are the hiking shoes -- so I figured, eh, I'll just wear them until I get around to buying a new pair.
Ow ow ow ow ow! Jesus Christ on a stick, it's like strapping a pair of iron maidens to my feet! The normal walk in the morning that I've gotten used to makes my feet ache, and I can feel the sharp edge of the leather biting into my ankle...
