Baby it's cold outside...
Dec. 1st, 2005 12:15 pmIt just started snowing. Well, not *just*, I guess it's been about an hour at this point. It seems to be snowing harder and harder as time goes on, and a little of it is sticking despite the air temperature being above freezing.
Mark was telling us horror stories about the Great Blizzard of '91, which apparently started just like this. People trapped at work for three days, and others who foolishly tried to get home, only to be stuck in traffic for 12 hours behind the abandoned cars of those who'd lost faith, or run out of gas. Taking toilet breaks on the I-90 bridge, hidden behind your car door.
The blizzards I've been through here weren't that bad, but then I never tried to cross the bridge. Ordinary cars can navigate fairly deep snow without any problem, as long as you take it slow, and avoid steep hills... which is always the problem, isn't it? At any rate, I've never been trapped at work or at home, or skidded off the road into a ditch, or anything like that.
But brrr, the snow is making me cold, despite the heater on and the air even outside not really being that chilly. Watching the snow makes me want to break open my lava lamp so that I can spread the hot wax over my body... yeah, it would burn a little, but it'd be so warm. -.-
