Sunday of Doom
Oct. 17th, 2005 10:16 amI was torn on whether to go to the meet Sunday, but finally decided to go ahead, to play Magic if nothing else.
Turned out to be nothing else, and I only played a couple games. My ears were all stuffy and I could't hear anyone talk, and my throat was clogged so I couldn't really say anything, so socializing was pretty much out. Plus, I felt like crap, so after a couple games I headed home. Most everyone else had left already anyway -- I'd gotten there late since I'd taken a nap before heading over.
The games themselves were okay, although I got horribly slaughtered both times. Game 1 my ninja deck drew an impressive array of support cards and not a single ninja, and so couldn't stop Soltris from going exponential (this turn I gain 100 life and put 200 more counters on the black market...), game 2 my only green mana was a golgari rot farm, which slowed me down a *lot*, and Kits' ghostly prison slowed me down even more, and so *he* went exponential before my golgari deck could force him to sacrifice all his creatures.
Once I got home, I medicated myself three times before realizing that I'd medicated myself three times. Fortunately, it wasn't all with the same medicine, and you're allowed to take two aleve, as long as you don't take any others for the next 24 hours or so. That did make me feel a lot better for the rest of the day, though. I watched some recorded cartoons (Naruto, Inu Yasha, Full Metal Alchemist*3 because I had a bit of a backlog) and then played some city of heroes with Litany.
Can't say it was really a bad pick up group... the leader wanted to do exclusively his own missions, and at one point made us wait a half hour while he not only ran to his contact, but ran to his *next* contact and then to stephanie peebles and back. He finished all that just before I took matters into my own hands and selected the next mission for him. }:P
So it had too much downtime, but in the actual missions things were fun. There was one tank ('BigMrDill' or something) who laid down a list of rules for groups he was in, starting with 'No rains ever!', presumably because he wanted to kill things with his Mud Pots and any scatter would sabotage that. I made sure to use freezing rain in every fight, and broke out the gale a little more than usual just for him. He didn't complain, but he quit before the next mission. }:P
I'm feeling better today, but still pretty stuffy. Cold's not behind me yet.
