Whirlwind Tour?
Sep. 2nd, 2005 08:23 amWell, I've been spending the week hanging around with my mom, mostly. We went out Wednesday with my aunt to get some seafood (or was it Tuesday?), took the dog out to a park near the lake (and nearly got lost, and the dog was sooo cute when she was flopping on the ground, exhausted), went to see the old malls that I remember from my childhood, which are all shutting down, watched lots of movies from blockbuster, since my mom has a netflix-style membership there, and stuff like that.
I've been eating too much. I'm not good with not eating food that's available, and my mom going 'Eat! Eat!' every time I show any sign of hunger is NOT HELPING.
Mom and Bob keep watching the hurricane aftermath coverage, and basically placing the blame everywhere, but mostly on Bush. "Why aren't they putting the people in Ft. Whatsisname in Louisiana? It can hold 130,000 people!" and so on. I'm getting really sick of hurricane coverage.
Anyway, now that we have a city in ruins and underwater, and have had evil megacorporations for decades, I expect the *other* cyberpunk trappings to be along any day now. Or I'll be forced to have some stern words with whoever's in charge of bringing across dystopian elements.
My sister is coming over, it turns out -- tomorrow. For a few days. Now, if only I can somehow get in touch with Aunt Thelma so that I can see that side of the family, which is staying over at her house... there's some sort of feud going on between Mom's side (represented by Mom) and Dad's side (represented by Thelma), and it might be my fault -- I screwed her over when they were executing Grandma's will, or at least kept her from stealing the thousands of dollars she felt she had a right to despite not being mentioned in it. I'm on good terms (or, occasionally no terms whatsoever) with everyone on that side but her, but with everyone staying at her house it's kind of awkward.
