FUCK YOU! Twice!
Apr. 30th, 2005 02:53 pmWe didn't have a game last night because Snowwy wasn't showing up; instead, we worked on the new races for the next campaign. The second-hardest part was coming up with 'facets' (advantages and disadvantages) that neither crippled the various strange critters or left them too powerful for anyone to want to pay for.
The hardest part was coming up with names. Lazar used babelfish to translate things into various languages, like dutch, or russian, or greek... I told him I could at least pronounce greek words, which was *almost* right. The results kept using the two or three greek letters than I can never keep straight. x.x Doh.
When I got home, I found a letter stuck in the door telling me that the landlord was increasing rent by $75 a month, insisting on new 12-month leases, and no longer including water and sewage as part of rent and billing us for that separately as well using 'estimated allocation', with -- to add insult to injury -- an additional $5 a month fee to cover administration expenses. Because god forbid they pass up any opportunity, no matter how small, to make their tenants hate them.
The sad thing is, rent'll still be cheaper than the next cheapest option as of the last time I looked, and I've heard (from a new guy at work who's looking for a place now) that things have gotten even worse rent-wise. Still, I'll need to check rental listings to make sure this adjustment is at least justified by the market.
The place is a dump, and I'd never have moved here if it hadn't cost much less than the other options, but I'm not going to go through the pain of moving again just to be in a competently run complex. If it'll get me a better place cheaper, though...
