Shin Megami Tensei is getting on my nerves. I mean, I haven't gotten THAT much farther into it, because it's kind of hard, especially the new bosses they spring on you at random times that (according to the walkthrough I glanced at) weren't in the original japanese version, but that's not it -- it's the skill system, where each creature can only have eight skills total, including you, and after that you have to start discarding some... and the level-up system, where it's nearly futile to try to advance the creatures you already have in level, since they gain xp SO MUCH SLOWER than your main guy. Instead, you have to fuse them with each other to form more powerful beasts, but then they only get to keep a few of the carefully husbanded skills from their parents...
I'd like the game a lot better if you could just keep as many skills as you wanted on all your guys, or maybe prune them at your own initiative. Or even choose the ones to keep when merging instead of having to select and deselect until it randomly picks the assortment you actually want. Grr.
Regardless, it's still fun.
