Saturday, I was at the grocery store ostensibly to pick up some cottage cheese and yogurt, and there right in front of the door was a giant display of grapes. Now, I hadn't had grapes in a while, so I bought a bunch, and they were good! Really good. So good that I ate all two pounds of them in one sitting...

Going to brush my teeth after that, I was wracked by horrible pains on the side that I'd chewed most of the grapes on, as if the grapes had scraped off the gums or enamel or something and left the exposed roots to be tortured by the toothbrush. This hasn't gone away yet. Er, that is, it happens again every time I brush; other than during brushing (and eating certain foods that I learned to avoid a long time ago, like hot tomatoes) it just feels normal.

So, I've been trying to avoid eating more often than necessary, because while I'd rather endure the sharp pain while brushing than the constant dull ache if I don't brush, it's even better to avoid the whole question entirely.

I mentioned this at the D+D game yesterday, and was informed that the conventional wisdom on brushing had shifted from 'after every meal' to 'twice a day at most'. Um... right. I don't really buy it (the 'it'll scrape off enamel!' thing I'd heard before, but the solution offered them was 'use a soft toothbrush'), but if it is true, well... those dentists must have pretty strong magic to revise reality like that and have it affect me a full day before I hear about the change.

Or maybe it was the grapes.

In less painful news, I finished Paper Mario Sunday morning, and put the N64 back in the closet, then, after the game, started in on Shin Tensei Megami (or something like that). And kept playing it, until 1am. It's sort of a remake of Dragon Warrior Monsters, with a darker plot (and, er, with a plot).
