Friday we didn't play GURPS, because we were still making characters. I had a character made before showing up, but I still spent most of the night working on it -- Lazar (who's GMing again) kept suggesting disadvantages I could take, and then I'd have to go spend the points, etc etc.

Saturday I mostly lazed around the apartment playing Space Empires 4. I threw together a new magic deck using a bunch of black nim-like cards that I'd traded for, but I didn't really have sufficient interest in magic to test it. Then I went to see Alien vs. Predator, which was... okay. Better than Freddy vs. Jason, for sure.

That night, I bought a whole bunch of snack foods for no apparent reason; most of them are still lurking on top of my fridge, waiting for me to get home to leap out and make me eat them.

Sunday I went to the crossroads meet, where my magic-ennui evaporated with the chance to actually play magic. It turned out the new deck was *functional*, but had a ludicrously glaring weakness -- I'd forgotten to put in any control elements at all. Not even a terror. I lost at least one game because of it.

It was *really* fun whenever it got working properly, though -- summoning station + spawning pit + 2*nuisance engine == 'Damn, your lure-basilisk combo kills my 18 2/2 creatures... 8 were artifacts, so I untap and tap the summoning station 8 times, and I have two mana open so I can make two critters from the spawning pit. So I only have 10 2/2s until next turn, when I can make another seven. You bastard!' I still lost that game, though.

The most embarassing game was when Havoqx dueled me with his stupid raffinity deck... expecting him to go with his C/W I brought out my old-school black deck, but even against raffinity it should have done better than it did -- I drew nothing fast the whole game, unless you count a hypnotic specter, which I don't, so it wasn't really a contest.

I probably still would have lost, though; the only way to beat ravager (other than being just as fast, which means playing something similar) (or getting lucky like Slox did; yes, if he doesn't draw a ravager it doesn't work so well) is artifact hate. Which I don't generally use much of, for about the same reason I never played color hosers. I guess 'X might use artifacts' is a safer bet currently, even with casual decks, though.

Most everyone went to see 'Alien vs. Predator', which I'd *just* seen and didn't want to see again. I hung around for a while talking (mostly listening) to Jurann and... er, someone else, who kept arguing about various medical things. Oh, and religious things. Then back to medical. Until the mall closed and we had to leave.

I met up with the main group back at Charlie's (Lexx keeps calling him Legend still, and he doesn't seem to object, so I'm not sure, are we still supposed to call him that?) and after they watched Kaze Ghost Warrior again (and I took a walk around the neighborhood, because KGW bores me) he put on The Wizard of Speed and Time, which was a movie about the making of the short. Pretty funny, and very 70s.

I was planning to head home (I've had a low-key cold all last week, and still do in fact, although all I've got left now is a sore throat), but Omen and Chris needed a ride to Auburn, and Lexx had invited me back to his place. It was 9:00, then, so I figured it kind of made sense to go...

Somehow, it took until 11pm to drop them off in Auburn and make it back up to Federal Way. I think it went something like 'Smoke Break: 30 min., travel time 1 hour total, pokemon figuring trading 30 min.' At any rate, it was already fairly late when I got to Lex's. I got to see Doom 3 in action, on Chris' (a different Chris) computer, and it looked... okay. I dunno. Grayfox kept going 'AHH!' everytime a monster jumped out, which didn't really startle me as much. Maybe it's 'cause I haven't played it.

We also got in a few games of magic (which I actually already talked about in passing above) before I headed home around 2am. This morning I woke up dead, and didn't revive until about 11am. I was late enough to work that I just went right to lunch. v.v
