Chaos! Destruction!
Dec. 4th, 2003 07:42 pmThere must have been a storm while I was at work, because heading home everything was chaos. Streets were backed up for miles in all directions because of a massive power outage -- even the intersection that's already a four-way stop was slow, for some reason.
The hybrid doesn't especially like stop-and-go traffic. It runs the battery down slowly because it never gets going fast enough to steal any power.
When I got home -- well, actually, as I slowly approached home -- I was relieved to see that power was on, but entering my house revealed that I hadn't survived unscathed. One of the blinds on the window was shattered and broken, with slats falling out, even though there was no sign of what might have caused it.
Worse, or at least more immediately annoyingly, the cable box was going berzerk. The jury is still out on whether it's permanently fried. I almost hope it is, because it's horribly obsolete... OTOH, who knows how long I'd have to wait for a replacement.

The cable wasn't fried. For a while I thought it was, until I realized the crap all over the TV was from the TV itself and hit 'cancel' on the correct remote.
MSN steadfastly refuses to be read in any fashion on my laptop except as webmail. Webmail is not acceptable. I think I'm going to stop using MSN, and cancel it as soon as I can. In 8 months or so.
