They installed a special effect in the courtyard outside my window.

There's a little elevator hut thing outside my window near the rotunda, that leads down to the parking garage, because the garage doesn't actually go under my building or the building next to it (just the buildings across from us). Three of its walls are made of up glass panes supported by a metal frame.

Yesterday, I noticed some workers installing what looked like posters inside the glass, or rather sealing the glass back up after installing the posters. I was kind of annoyed, because (a) there's a giant orange advertisement outside my window now, and (b) I thought it'd make the inside of the elevator hut dark and gloomy, and keep people from waiting there for rides because it'd block their view of the rotunda.

On the way home from work, I glanced over to see what it looked like from the inside, and was disgusted to see that, apparently, they'd taken it down! It'd taken a team of three to install it, and they only had it there for one day?

But the next day, walking past on the way to lunch, it was there again (I can't *actually* see it out my window unless I lean over and crane my neck), and I began to wonder... and sure enough, it's magic.

From the outside it looks like a poster. Matte, opaque, bright colors and everything. From the inside it's completely invisible -- in particular, there's no hint of the patterns you can clearly see from outside. It's scary, and makes me think of badly designed 3d levels. }:P

Just think of the possibilities, though! I bet pretty soon all skyscrapers will be covered with ads... not to mention that in addition to one-way mirrors, you have to keep an eye out for possible one-way *walls*.
