Friday we went to see Star Wars ep. 3 during work hours. I thought it did a decent job performing the nigh impossible task of rectifying the state at the end of the second movie (or more accurately, the state at the end of the Cartoon Network shorts) with the state at the beginning of the original. Unfortunately, that's about all it had time for.

The whole movie seemed disjointed and abrupt, like the outline of a movie with all the actual movie cut out except for the action scenes. For example, we have the insidious way in which Darth Sidious turns Anakin to the dark side:

MW: "He's too dangerous to live! We have to kill him!"
AS: "No! We can't kill. He has to stand trial. I'll stop you!"
[anakin murders mace windu]
AS: "What have I done?"
DS: "You've saved me from their evil plot, and now we can save your wife and bring peace to the galaxy. But only if you'll become a sith lord too."
AS: "Okay, I guess I'll be a sith lord."
DS: "Yay! Your new name is Darth Vader. Now go kill babies."
AS: "Okay."
[anakin goes and kills babies]
Audience: "What the fuck? Why did he just go kill those babies?"

There were other scenes that worked a lot better, though. Obi-wan's lizard was really cute, for instance.

Other than that... well, city of heroes. Cinnamon isn't as messed up as I was afraid she might be, now that I've figured out how to fight with her. And player her on a few teams that didn't suck.
