We played some more Pathfinder today. This time, we actually ran into some enemies that *attacked us first* and in two out of three cases, this let us fight back without half the party agonizing over whether we were doing the right thing.

So... the bugbear was out of the harem... )

And cue the cliffhanger.

Yesterday we played some more Pathfinder, working through the goblin fortress.

Queue more arguing... )

I found the game amusing. So did many of the other players, by the end. Phoof's player (Cassandra) was not so amused, since we kept ruining her attempts at negotiation, and various other people got pretty pissed at various times during the session. I don't *think* any of it was unrecoverable, but I don't know most of the people playing as well as I'd need to to be sure of that. :/

It is clear that the large, unwieldy party is large and unwieldy.

Yesterday we had another session of Pathfinder, where the GM told us where we should 'obviously' go and we went there.

After a week spent shopping... )

And we stopped there, because it was six and several of the players had to go to work. We'll pick up with the mini-boss fight next session, probably.

We played some more pathfinder today, finishing off the mini-dungeon we'd stumbled into at the end of the last session. Somehow, we managed to do the whole thing in approximately the correct order.

further on past the prison... )

Tom (GMing) ranted at me after the fight -- "Why didn't you use your rage? I had a magic trap set up for when you raged!"

"Um... I only had a few rounds left and was saving it for when I had a chance to hit the demon, but I never actually got the chance?"

So, hooray for dumb luck. n.n

Yesterday was another session of Pathfinder, in which we continued investigating the goblin incursion in the glassworks.

Where was Ameiko? )

June was sent away because his player (Ed) showed up very very late (5pm, for a game that nominally started at 1:30 and actually started around 2). He was brought back just in time for the session to end... and then Ed revealed that he was missing the next session. SIGH.

Second session of the new Pathfinder game was today. It mostly consisted of us wasting time partying in inappropriate places, but eventually we stumbled across some enemy activity.

So, it started at breakfast... )

As you may have guessed, the Ogre Magi was not part of the original level-1 module. x.x Tom added it for some extra challenge. Then decided not to use a cone of cold to kill the entire party when we were all trapped in a small enclosed area, since we'd been expecting an ordinary ogre.

I'm going to try writing up a summary of Saturday's D+D game. This might or might not be an ongoing thing -- it was kind of fun when I used to do it, but I stopped for a reason.

Also, I don't really know anyone's character names because the GM kept referring to us by our real names. Blaaaah.

So, three pirates, a ninja, a skeleton, and a groot expee walk into a bar... )

The fights were ridiculously easy this time, because the GM is starting us at level 5 despite the module starting at level 1, as a 'tutorial level' since many of the players are new. But we had fun utterly stomping them, I guess.

What do you get when two oracles and a summoner face off against a horde of Vikings in a compound defended by magic summoning poles?

You get the epic battle of Lantern Archons vs lions.

After triggering the perimeter wards twice (almost three times) and having to fight a pair of dire lions each time, we snuck up on the house where what we thought was the proximate source of all our troubles was having a party. We'd bought a bunch of illegal drugs to slip into their drinks and food secretly, and the drug dealer had thrown in a pair of prostitutes to sweeten the deal. One of them had gotten eaten by a dire lion though.

So, I changed into a fox and snuck up onto the roof to peek in on what was going on. It was supposed to be a stealth mission until I heard some of the enemies raping a servant girl while she begged them to stop. "I dig a hole in the roof" using my gloves of shaping "and summon some lions." Only one lion fit in the pantry, though, so the other lion got to be ceiling cat.

Unfortunately, this kind of blew the stealth part of the mission. But the enemies were so confused running around trying to figure out what the heck was going on... at one point we had nine lantern archons pestering the boss with their holy lasers, while he tried to hide behind a chimney and throw spears. At another point one of the enemies decided to take off his passkey armband to summon more dire lion defenders from the perimeter poles, only to be eaten before he could put it back on and order them to fight us.

One of the lions kept Baffo pinned down and grappled for about five rounds while Maffo healed him and he and Elric gathered up armbands to slap on everybody so that the dire lions would stop attacking us.

The last few enemies tried to fortify themselves in the kitchen and pantry. Which already had a hole in the roof to summon more lions and lantern archons through.

Then it turned out that the guy was just another mook in the chain of mooks and didn't have the person we were trying to rescue *or* our boss' family sword. Damn it.

But the Saturday game just 'finished' the campaign, so -- here's the rest of it.

Friday's game got re-railed and, um... *sigh* It's not a very good module. Or maybe we're just not into it in the right way.

There've been a couple sessions of the Saturday game since the last time I updated about it. Wow, I'm a slacker.

A couple Saturdays ago we played some Pathfinder. Neither of the new guys showed up, and neither did Ed, but Eric was there so we could play.

Last Saturday (not yesterday) we played some Pathfinder. The party gathered some new allies and assaulted the undead stronghold again. This time they didn't split the party, and actually somehow did worse.

Last Saturday I finally ran another session of the pathfinder campaign. The party wanted a dungeon crawl, so I tried to give them one, and to fight undead as they were easier than golems, although of course Lilia insisted she'd be useless because she couldn't use her charm spells on them.

Paraphrased party babble: "These monsters are really unfair! With those grapple and strength drain and all that we can't really stand and fight them."
Me: "It's almost as if someone should have cast one of those summon elemental spells she'd memorized for the lack of anything better to cast against undead, and sent disposable minions in first to tank or something. Oh wait, you didn't even take her with you for most of the fights!"
terrycloth: (d20)
I'm not sure exactly how many sessions of the Friday game this spans; I think four?

Saturday, we played some D+D. Er, pathfinder. The party gave up without even trying, and decided to go in a completely different direction instead. Next time I'll make sure to close the door behind them!
